Cosmetic Stability Testing Australia | Elvoria Cosmetics - Elvoria Cosmetics

Why Stability Testing is Essential!

Cosmetic products are exposed to different temperatures, humidity levels, and handling conditions from manufacturing to end use. Without proper stability testing, products can separate, lose viscosity, change colour, or even become unsafe for use. Conducting stability testing:

  • Predicts your product’s shelf life

  • Ensures consistency in texture, colour, scent, and performance

  • Helps maintain product safety and consumer trust

  • Supports compliance with regulatory guidelines

Stability Testing Services and Price List

I offer three professional testing options that can be performed individually or as part of a full stability package.

Please note that the prices listed are per individual product. If you have multiple products requiring testing, please leave a message in the form below, and I’ll get back to you with a customised discounted quote.

Freeze/Thaw Stability Testing

Duration: 6 cycles (typically 6 weeks)

$700.00
Australian Dollars
For Freeze/Thaw Stability Testing, a total of 6 samples are required, each containing 250 g of product. All samples must be provided in their intended retail packaging, as packaging interaction is a critical part of stability evaluation.

The samples will be stored at the following conditions:
  • Freezing: -5°C to -10°C for 24 hours
  • Thawing: 25°C for 24 hours
  • Microbial testing (TPC + Yeast & Mould) at Day 0 and End of cycles
  • Final stability report.
  • Freeze/Thaw Testing evaluates your product’s stability when exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations, such as during shipping or seasonal climate changes. It identifies risks of phase separation, emulsion breakdown, or texture changes caused by repeated freezing and thawing.

Preliminary Stability Testing (Mini-Screening)

Duration: 42-45 days

$900.00
Australian Dollars
For Preliminary Stability Testing, a total of 10 samples are required, each containing 250 g of product. All samples must be provided in their intended retail packaging, as packaging interaction is a critical part of stability evaluation.

The samples will be stored at the following conditions:
  • Room temperature: 20–25°C
  • Elevated temperature: 40°C
  • Final stability report.
  • Preliminary Stability Testing provides an initial assessment of your formulation’s short-term stability. It is designed to detect early signs of separation, colour changes, pH shifts, or texture inconsistencies, making it ideal for identifying potential formulation issues before proceeding to longer-term stability studies.

Accelerated Stability Testing

Duration: 6 months (182 days)

$2,000
Australian Dollars
For Accelerated Stability Testing, a total of 20 samples are required, each containing 280 g of product. All samples must be provided in their intended retail packaging, as packaging interaction is a critical part of stability evaluation.

The samples will be stored at the following conditions: Temperature:
  • Room temperature: 20–25°C
  • Elevated temperature: 40°C ± 2°C
  • Final stability report and certificate of technical stability.
  • Accelerated Stability Testing simulates long-term storage conditions by exposing your product to elevated temperatures and humidity. This method predicts how your product will perform over 12–24 months under normal conditions. It assesses key parameters, including pH, viscosity, colour, and odour, ensuring your product maintains quality throughout its intended shelf life. For a more detailed parameter assessment explanation, please send us an email.

Advanced Stability and Microbial Screening

Duration: 6 months (182 days)

$2,800
Australian Dollars
For Advanced Stability and Microbial Screening, a total of 24 samples are required, each containing 250 g of product. All samples must be provided in their intended retail packaging, as packaging interaction is a critical part of stability evaluation.

The samples will be stored at the following conditions:
  • Room temperature: 20–25°C
  • Elevated temperature: 40°C
  • Freezing: -5°C to -10°C for 24 hours (6 cycles)
  • Thawing: 25°C for 24 hours (6 cycles)
  • Full Microbial Testing: TPC, Yeast and Mould
  • Final stability report and certificate of technical stability.

Laboratory Status and Testing Scope

Elvoria Cosmetics operates as a non-accredited laboratory. Under current Australian regulations, there is no mandatory requirement for cosmetic stability testing to be conducted by an accredited facility.

All testing is performed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles and industry-recognised methodologies. The data generated is suitable for formulation development, stability assessment, and supporting product shelf life determinations.

Stability results and reports provided by Elvoria Cosmetics are widely accepted within the Australian cosmetic industry; however, final regulatory responsibility remains with the product owner. Clients are responsible for ensuring all required testing and compliance obligations are met for their specific market and product category.

For stability testing, clients are required to supply their own product samples. If you would like my lab to formulate and prepare the samples on your behalf, an additional fee will apply.
